Amherst Veterinary Hospital is a full service animal hospital located in Vancouver on West 4th and Alma in the Jericho Village Mall. We opened our doors in 1987 and have been providing the highest quality veterinary care to Kitsilano, Dunbar, Point Grey and the west side of Vancouver ever since. We offer a full spectrum of veterinary services using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. All of our staff are dedicated, friendly animal lovers who provide individual service with old-fashioned values.

Dr. Grant Cumberbirch
Principal, Owner and Veterinarian
Grant attended UBC where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. On admission to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977, he spent the following four years in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Dr. Loretta Yuen
Veterinary Medical Director and Veterinarian
Loretta Yuen is an exceptional and astute member of our Amherst team and serves as the Veterinary Medical Director. She is responsible for overseeing the medical operations within the hospital. We are lucky to have Dr. Yuen leading the advancement of high quality paient care and client service at Amherst Vet Hospital.

Dr. Iuliana Sofronia
Veterinarian
Dr. Sofronia graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Romania, and worked as a veterinarian in her home country before coming to Canada. She grew up in a small town in Romania and spent all her summer vacations on her grandparents farm, caring for the animals.

Dr. Jill Meacher
Veterinarian
Dr. Jill Meacher was born and raised in North Vancouver and has returned to her native stomping grounds after completing her education. Jill loves the lower mainland and as a youth took full advantage of the ocean, mountains and the abundant wildlife. She grew up with a variety of pets, from mice and birds to snakes and amphibians.

Dr. Claire Beneke
Veterinarian
Dr. Claire Beneke joined the Amherst team in May of 2013. Claire grew up in North Vancouver where she spent a lot of her time in the outdoors playing soccer, hiking, snowboarding and horseback riding.

Dr. Cheryl Kong
Veterinarian
Dr. Cheryl Kong joined the Amherst family in November 2017. Cheryl was born in Ontario and grew up in Hong Kong. She attended university in Glasgow, Scotland and worked in the UK for two years. Lucky for us Cheryl moved back to Canada in 2016!

Dr. Natasa Milojkovic
Veterinarian
Natasa pursued her dream and graduated from the University of Belgrade in 1990 and came to Canada in 1992. She began her Canadian veterinary career as a veterinary technician and then passed the Canadian Board exam in Guelph in 1995.
