Christmas is definitely the season of gifts however it’s also a time to reflect and consider those less fortunate. We at Amherst know how fortunate we are and realize that it is the perfect time to focus on gratitude and giving. This year we wanted to focus on giving and donating some of our time to try and bring a smile to those in need this festive season.

This year Amherst Veterinary Hospital chose to look to the streets of the city around us. Vancouver has a lot of amazing charities doing tremendous work looking after the needs of the homeless population. We took inspiration from these amazing groups to give a little back ourselves. Under the direction of our receptionist Jaime W we came together on Sunday to prepare, package and hand deliver over 70 care packages to the people and their pets in our city that live their day to day lives on the streets.

We met some amazing people who told us some humbling stories. Stories of resilience and sadness, hope and survival. It was a pleasure for the staff of Amherst to meet and try to help these individuals and their pets. Thank you to all of our clients for sharing their own stories of giving this season. It really makes a difference.
