Prophylactic Ultrasonic Cleaning

When your pet comes in to have his teeth cleaned, the health of each tooth will be evaluated. All surfaces of the tooth will be scaled to remove tartar both above and below the gum line. It is very important that tartar is removed below the gum line as this is what leads to gingivitis and loss of bony support around the tooth. This can only be achieved with the pet under a general anesthetic and with the appropriate selection of scalers and root planers. At Amherst Veterinary Hospital we have a newly purchased ultrasonic scaler and polisher to allow us to remove the tartar and plaque effectively and efficiently. Once cleaned, each tooth is then polished.

We also provide dental cleanings at our Vancouver Animal Hospital.
