Dental Radiology

Amherst also has the capability to take dental radiographs. These are indicated when we suspect an extraction, crown amputation, or other dental procedure may need to be performed. Dental radiographs are essential to diagnosing important issues in dental health. As a tool it allows us to evaluate the health of the roots and to determine disease below the gum line.

We’ve had a dental radiology machine at our hospital since 2001. Diseases such as root infections, oral bone tumours and sinus infections need to be evaluated radiographically. Also, treatment plans for feline ododontic resorptive lesions can only be made radiographically.
