Katy

Reception
Armida

Katy is one of the friendly faces at Amherst Veterinary Hospital’s reception desk. Katy has been an animal lover her entire life, and while relatively new to Canada, having immigrated from the UK six years ago, she now happily calls Canada home.

Initially, Kate’s career took her in fun and unique directions! She has worked in debt collection and even as a wedding coordinator, but she always felt professionally pulled to work with animals, so for several years, she volunteered with the Edmonton Humane Society, which only further cemented that this is what she was meant to do for a living.

She attended Granville College and graduated with honours as a Veterinary Tech Assistant in March of 2018, having completed her practicum at Amherst. We’re happy to have her at Amherst, where she brings her passion, care and kindness to every appointment and phone call.

Those who meet Katy quickly see that her skillset makes her a perfect fit at Amherst. Having worked with in need animals, and having fostered kittens for quite some time, her empathy and love of living things has her constantly seeking ways to go the extra mile for patients and their human companions. She knows what it is to worry about your pet, as her lab is a frequent flier at Amherst!

When not at work (or bringing her pooch in for veterinary care!), Kate loves to garden, run, visit the beach, and spend time with her lab.

She looks forward to welcoming you to Amherst on your next visit!
