Brooklyn Higgs

Veterinary Assistant
Dr. Grant Cumberbirch

Brooklyn grew up in Vancouver and at the age of three, she welcomed her first family dog, igniting a lifelong passion for animals. From that moment, she knew that working with animals was her destined career path. Brooklyn has experience in training horses at a local rescue, where she dedicated a gap year before earning an Associate of Arts degree from Capilano University. She is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Animal Biology at UBC.

Brooklyn’s varied work experience has given her a unique and diverse skill set. She has spent many years as a kids’ ski instructor, provided equestrian barn assistance, and even spent a summer landscaping. These roles have honed her strong work ethic and adaptability.

Outside of her professional life, Brooklyn is a national-level powerlifter and enjoys spending time outdoors. She also loves singing and songwriting with friends and family. Brooklyn shares her home with four rescued companions: three large dogs, a Savannah cat cross, and a Connemara x Welsh pony, all of whom she adores.

Brooklyn cherishes the welcoming and supportive atmosphere at Amherst. Her colleagues are always eager to answer questions and provide assistance, making it the ideal environment for her to continue her journey in animal care.
