Katerina

Katerina grew up in Prague, Czech Republic. She studied Forestry for a year and then attended a special husbandry program (3 years) at the Czech University of Life Science. She also found an interest in general health care while observing her mother working as a nurse in an emergency hospital in Prague. Katerina has 2 brothers, one living in Zanzibar with her mother and the other in Slovakia.

Katerina moved to Vancouver in 2018, where she met her husband. In 2022, she decided to follow her dream and attend Granville College and became a Veterinary Technician Assistant.

Katerina began working at the young age of 13 years old. She worked in restaurants and cafés and did work as a babysitter for several years. Her most recent experience was in sales in a company that did electrical installation, cable and wiring. She also worked at a shoe store and in a warehouse selling pet products.

Katerina chose this career because she has a passion and love for all living creatures and is drawn to helping the sick ones. Some of her medical interests also include rehabilitation and microbiology.

Her hobbies include kick boxing, running, soccer, dance and salsa. She is an active member of the Slovac Folklore Society where she is involved with singing, and dance. She loves cooking as well as eating and enjoys spending time outdoors.

Her fur family includes a grey male domestic short hair cat named Chicharron. He is 2 years old and a very curious and playful boy who brings so much joy.

Working at Amherst is like being surrounded by a huge family full of nice and supportive members. It is such a great environment here, and everyone makes it easy to learn new things every day. I couldn’t have chosen a better start for my new career.

We are very lucky to have Katerina on the Amherst team. She is so calm with each patient and so caring towards everyone she meets.
